Igor Fyodorovich Stravinsky (June 17, 1882 — April 6, 1971) was a Russian-born, later naturalized French, composer. He is best known for the ballets The Firebird, Petrushka, and The Rite of Spring. The latter work is characterized by features that were at the time stark departures from established musical traditions. Today, Stravinsky is considered one of the most important composers of the twentieth century.
